HOLIDAY STYLE GUIDE…Sequins, Bows and Lace OH MY!!

With only 35 days till Christmas for most the holiday planning, shopping and decorating is in full swing! Holidays are suppose to be the most joyful time of year however sometimes it can become stressful with so many things to check off your list. And of course piling on the stress are those invitations on your counter to family and work parties along with New Years Eve events! And the inevitable question is “what am I going to where?”. Well, fret no more my holiday gift to you is this Holiday Style Guide to make your holiday outfit shopping a breeze!!

One of the key ingredients this holiday season is making the most out of a few pieces! You do not need to go buy 4 new outfits for 4 parties!

  1. Figure out what is the common theme between all your events.
    • Dressy: A few glamorous items to your wardrobe is all you need, thus shop for a few items such as a skirt, sweater, clutch or dress.
    • Casual: Shop for a few items such as a skirt, sweater, jewelry, scarf or a handbag.
    • Family friendly: Shop for garments you can have fun in. You never know the games they might have, so you want to look fabulous yet be comfortable. Shop for a few items such as a pair of pants, sweater, festive top, or flats.
    • Work: Shop for garments that are not to revealing. I always love buying a new pair of shoes and some great jewelry for work events!
  2. Decide what trends you are loving this season.
    • Sequins: If you are loving sequins there are endless options!! My favorite garment this season is a sequin skirt (there are endless options when it comes to styling it). Also, sequin clutches and heels are a big trend as well! And of course, the newest trend is sequin nails!
    • Bows: If you haven’t already noticed BOWS have really made a statement this season. Look for a great dress, jacket or sweater with bow detail or even a bow headband. πŸ™‚ I am also loving heels with bow detail!!
    • Lace: A classic trend that is always around year after year for the holiday is lace! You can find lace on dresses, tops, skirts and scarfs.
    • Mesh: My absolute favorite trend this season and definitely the biggest trend is MESH! You can find dresses and tops with mesh!
    • Velvet: If you need something simple and classic yet is dressy velvet would be the best choice in a garment!
    • Embellished collars: All you need is one! I love this trend because it can really grow your wardrobe by taking a top, dress or sweater and changing the look just by adding an embellished collar!
  3. Where to shop.
    • Nordstrom
    • Banana Republic
    • Express
    • ALDO
    • H&M
    • Ann Taylor Loft
    • J. CREW
    • Steve Madden
    • Saks Fifth Avenue
  4. Mix and Match.
    • Have one focal point:
      • If you purchased a sequin sweater let that be the focus of your outfit and everything else you want to compliment it. For example: take a simple black dress and throw your sequin sweater over the top! Or if you are going to a family party try pairing the sweater with a nice dark denim, a silk shell!
      • If you invested in a new skirt try pairing it with your favorite heels for a work event with a nice blazer. Also, try pairing it with a casual t-shirt and blazer for a casual event.
    • Accessories can change any outfit: If you invested in a necklace and/or clutch. You can mix these with any of your outfits! A sparkle or lace clutch is sure to make any outfit festive!

Fall never fails me with all the great trends! I love how everything molds together and you can really mix and match the trends to make it your own! Always remember ladies that not every trend will be for you! That is the key to being styled right! πŸ˜‰

This lace trend is a great way to make your outfit more feminine and dress it up just with a few touches of lace! Lace up a pair of jeans and knee high leather boots with a great lace top or lace handbag! Alexander McQueen always makes a great lace clutch!

You can also take that evening lace dress and wear it to work by throwing a great fitted blazer over the top! If your daring make it a colored blazer!

Also, adding just a touch of lace may be all your outfit needs to take it up a notch!

Met Andrea Lieberman, Designer of A.L.C.!

Wow, what a great PA event we had at work today. Andrea Lieberman, designer of A.L.C. graced us with her presence and gave us true insight to her inspirations for her collections. She maintained a day job while styling on the side using it as a creative outlet that spiraled into the career she has to day. After many years of styling Jennifer Lopez, Madonna and Gwen Stefani and even helping Gwen launch her L.A.M.B line it eventually inspired her to start a line of her own. Its obvious from her collections that her inspiration and ideas stem from styling these fantastic fashion forward women and allowing her to make them her muses! Additionally, her inspiration is drawn from color palettes which is easily seen in each collection.Β She really wanted to create sophisticated must-haves that you love enough to want to wear again and again for years to come, and I must say she has really mastered that after seeing how she styles the same piece so many different ways. You can pretty much take any one of her pieces and go from day to night, from “beach to bar” and from work to a night out with the girls! The collections are comprised of daring silhouettes, chic, modular separates and perfectly engineered basics. Her customers are of a very wide range of woman from all walks of life along with her sizes ranging from 0-12, which of course in Designer Collections is rare. Furthermore, the price points are very reasonable especially considering the fabrications are from Italy and the yarn is from Japan.

My clients had the rare opportunity to try on samples from the A.L.C Summer 2011 runway collection and the second delivery of the Spring 2011 Collection. These pieces flew out of our doors and with so many pre-orders I don’t think we will even have any pieces from the Summer Collection to place on the floor! All the clients loved her, she was so down to earth and relatable, it was a blast getting input from her on how she would uniquely style her own pieces. Her style is a breath of fresh air, she has this attitude of “I wear it just how I like it”, and it totally works. You can really mix and match her pieces from all different seasons giving them a fresh take even though they may be from seasons past.

I have always been a fan of A.L.C but after today I am totally a groupie! πŸ™‚ I fell in love with many pieces from the Summer Collection and re-fell in love with pieces from the Pre-Spring Collection that we have had for while. I have one of the skirts from the Pre-Spring 2011 Collection and have already styled it so many different ways in my wardrobe. See below!

Today, I styled it casual with just a great white silk blouse, smoke patent leather Joan & David pumps and then later changed into my favorite Vera Wang nude flats! Worn with a silver cocktail ring and diamond stud earrings to give it the outfit a little glam.

Favorite piece from Summer 2011 Collection:

T0 complete the look I would style this dress with these accessories:

Simon Sebbag "Turquise Necklace"

Jimmy Choo (This sandal but in silver sparkle)

I know there will be pieces I will be dreaming about tonight! Everyone needs a little A.L.C. in their wardrobe, trust it will become one of your favorites no matter which piece you chose you cannot go wrong, so what are you waiting for?? πŸ™‚
